Location: Martinsville, VA (320 Hospital Drive)

Start Date: 08/26/2026

End Date/Duration: Ongoing with short-term coverage needed initially

Shift: 4 shifts/week, 810 hours per shift, outpatient clinical hours with light call

Hours/week: Approximately 3240 hours

Employment Type: Traveler/Locum Tenens (with potential for permanent hire)

License/Certs: Active VA medical license required, Board-certified or eligible in Hematology/Oncology

Experience: Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology required

Pay & Benefits

Hourly Pay Rate: $1.00/hour (note: pay package discussed upon application)

What You'll Do

• Provide outpatient hematology and oncology care at a community hospital and outpatient cancer center
• Manage a patient volume of 1215 patients daily, including established patients with light call responsibilities
• Collaborate with a team of 3 established permanent HemOnc providers, 6 RNs, 1 PA/NP, and 6 office staff
• Document patient encounters using the Aria EMR system
• Contribute to continuity of care by managing complex cases, including cancer treatment and hematology disorders
• Participate in light phone-based calls (25 per week), primarily beeper notifications for established patients

What You Need

Required:

• Active Virginia medical license
• Board certification or eligibility in Hematology/Oncology
• Fellowship-trained or experience in hematology and oncology care
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Preferred:

• Long-term commitment and willingness to commute from driving distance
• Experience with complex cases and interdisciplinary collaboration
