Job Overview We are seeking an experienced professional for a mid‑level role within the Business Development and Licensing Team of Mount Sinai Innovation Partners (MSIP). The individual will be a trusted mentor to Mount Sinai’s inventors and will direct and execute educational programming on asset acceleration, entrepreneurship and startup activities for the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS). The position reports directly to the Managing Director, Business Development and Licensing and collaborates with all functional units within MSIP and with Mount Sinai administration, faculty, postdocs, students, staff and clinicians. The individual is a thought leader of entrepreneurship within Mount Sinai and the larger NYC life science ecosystem. Responsibilities Enhance current IP, commercialization and entrepreneurship courses with the graduate school, and the MSIP Internship curriculum. Direct the development of graduate school curriculum focused on innovation and entrepreneurship; recruit qualified MSHS faculty and outside experts, and deliver lectures as appropriate. Provide interactive and ongoing education and support to MSHS inventors/investigators on an individual or group basis as needed; respond to inquiries about SBIR/STTR funding and other entrepreneurial activities. Establish, maintain, grow, and mine an active network of academic and industry contacts involved in asset acceleration, entrepreneurship education, and company formation. Foster relationships and act as a mentor and thought leader for the Mount Sinai innovation community, including masters/MD/PhD students, postdocs/research associates, and faculty, as well as the larger NYC life science ecosystem. Provide access to innovation and entrepreneurial resources in the form of training, connection and access to funding as well as technology development. Use position at the interface of MSIP/Mount Sinai/NYC biotech community to create connections and identify the need for new programs or initiatives to better serve Mount Sinai students and faculty. Effectively manage up and down, recognize when to ask for support from other MSIP domain experts, navigate and resolve conflicts while preserving positive relationships. Participate in the review of MSIP candidates for hire. Act as an MSIP brand ambassador, reflecting the brand in appearance, language, work ethic and behavior. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred, or combination of appropriate administrative/managerial experience and education/training. Master’s or Ph.D. in Life Sciences preferred. 7+ years of relevant, progressive administrative experience (2+ years of supervisory preferred). Preferred Qualifications 3–5 years of experience working within the NYC life sciences ecosystem, and connections to the NYC entrepreneurial and startup community. Understanding of translational research and ability to evaluate early‑stage research for commercial potential; ability to appropriately position early‑stage assets for partnership. Strong foundational understanding of intellectual property law and how academic assets can be commercialized. Experience creating educational materials for a targeted audience. Ability to give effective presentations to large groups. Familiarity with federally funded research and academic grant processes, specifically SBIRs and STTRs. Compensation Salary range: $95,450 - $143,175 annually (New York City salary transparency law). Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and operational need.
