Radiation Protection Technical Specialist / Sr Radiation Protection Technical Specialist Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Morris, Illinois, is hiring a Radiation Protection Technical Specialist or Sr. Radiation Protection Technical Specialist. The position is a multi‑level role and can be filled at the Radiation Protection Technical Specialist level (Job Code XCAN, salary $97,200–$108,000) or at the Sr. level (Job Code XCDF, salary $117,000–$130,000). Primary Purpose of Position Accountable for implementing and maintaining station technical programs such as dosimetry, instrumentation, respiratory programs, self‑assessments, and procedure implementation. Ensures programs are up to date from a regulatory and technical perspective, performs technical evaluations for exposure, isotopic mix trending, whole‑body counts, emergency plume dispersions, and other calculations. Shares updates on technical and regulatory changes with peers. Primary Duties and Accountabilities Track and monitor RP metrics for technical programs, generate corrective actions to eliminate regulatory risk. Benchmark and improve programs with fleet peers to achieve best industry performance. Assess programs to identify issues and conduct technical calculations; apply 10CFR20 and other regulations. Implement corrective actions, self‑assessments, and benchmarking into departmental objectives, and develop training. Represent RP at meetings with Nuclear Oversight (NOS) and regulators. Conduct field observations of work to ensure standards are met. Develop and deliver oral and written communications for all audiences. Perform other duties as directed, including emergency response, departmental coverage, call‑outs, and support of outage activities. Radiation Protection Technical Specialist – Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in health physics or related science with 1 year of related experience. Current or previous SRO license with 5 years of related experience. Associate’s degree in health physics or related science with 3 years of related experience. High school diploma/GED with qualifications for ANSI 3.1 RP Technician or 5 years of related experience. Maintain minimum access or unescorted access requirements; favorable medical examination/testing. Sr. Radiation Protection Technical Specialist – Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of applied radiation protection experience. Current or previous SRO license with 5 years of applied radiation protection experience. Associate’s degree with 6 years of applied radiation protection experience. High school diploma/GED with 7 years of applied radiation protection experience. Maintain minimum access or unescorted access requirements; favorable medical examination/testing. Preferred Qualifications Nuclear radiation protection experience (for either level). Successful completion of National Registry Radiation Protection Technicians (NRRPT) or Certified Health Physicist (CHP) certification (for Sr. level).
