Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Outpatient Community Clinic

Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is one of the largest federally qualified health centers in the country, serving a diverse, largely low‑income population. Position Overview We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team at the La Mesa Family Health Center. The role provides primary and reproductive health services to patients with a focus on underserved communities. Responsibilities Provide high‑quality medical services to a diverse patient population. Perform routine exams, common procedures, and screenings. Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and point‑of‑care tests. Evaluate patients with complex problems and refer to specialists as needed. Maintain cultural sensitivity and assist with translation when necessary. Complete all required documentation in accordance with departmental standards. Comply with electronic medical record requirements, including medication reconciliation and note finalization. Attend mandatory meetings; minimize incident reports. Use resources efficiently and practice cost‑effective medicine. Participate in the Clinical Outcomes Program. Maintain peer review participation and meet organizational metrics. Support administrative duties and on‑call schedule. Keep medical license, DEA registration, and BLS/CPR certification current. Requirements Completion of an approved/accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program. Unrestricted license to practice in California (or ability to obtain one). Current AHA CPR (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training. Experience with underserved, low‑income, or homeless populations preferred. Second‑language fluency desirable. Compensation & Benefits Annual salary: $290,000.00 – $335,000.00 Sign‑on bonus and up to $50,000 in annual incentives.
