Overview Registered Nurse (RN) PCU - Progressive Care Unit in Saint Louis, Missouri. Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Duration: Ongoing Employment Type: Staff Work Schedule and Incentives Full time, 3x12 shifts Nights Sign on bonus eligible up to $15,000 Unit Description The unit is a 19‑bed surgical progressive care unit that primarily cares for post‑operative patients admitted to abdominal transplant, hepatobiliary surgery, ENT/plastics surgery, orthopaedic‑micro surgery, trauma/ACC/Geriatric Trauma Surgery, and vascular surgery teams. It also manages critical‑care needs for additional specialty teams. Role Purpose Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guideline standards of nursing care. Responsibilities Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment; educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care needs and medication administration. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance; participates in professional development. Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the inter‑professional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care; proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care; assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs. Minimum Requirements Education: Nursing Diploma/Associate's degree in Nursing; no experience required. Supervisor Experience: None required. Licenses & Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN). Preferred Requirements Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; less than 2 years of experience. BSN.
