Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse - Full Time Shift Details

• 3x12-hour shifts - Day/Night/Variable (scheduled as needed)
• Every other weekend (EOW)
• Holiday rotation
• 2 on-call shifts per 4-week period
• 36 hours per week total

Required Licensure & Certifications

• NYS RN Licensure (required)
• BLS - AHA or RQI only
• ACLS - AHA or RQI only
• NIHSS certification

Position Overview

• Applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical skills, and communication skills to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families
• Assesses patient need and develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode
• Develops specialized skill in caring for patients admitted for medical conditions
• Provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions
• Accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing
• Expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support within a Healing Environment

Job Functions Clinical Practice

• Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care
• Assesses patient and family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness, and analysis of data obtained through direct observation, technology, or health team communication
• Creates a developmentally and age-appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address the nature and scope of identified health problems
• In collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team, sets goals and monitors patient progress
• Adjusts the plan of care based on patient response or change in condition and reprioritization of needs
• Demonstrates skill in the application of interventions, including medication administration

• Promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient

Required Skills & Experience

• Valid NYS RN Licensure
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Med/Surg environment
