Director of Donor Stewardship

Mission Statement : The FACE Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Our mission is to enhance and preserve the quality of life of animals by providing financial assistance for pet owners who cannot afford the cost of their pet’s emergency care. Position Summary: The Director of Donor Stewardship strengthens relationships with FACE donors, supporters, and grantmaking foundations, with a focus on retention, engagement, segmentation, and monthly giving. The Director manages donor stewardship systems and communications, maintains accurate Salesforce records, and supports the Executive Director with major donor and foundation relationships. The ideal candidate is an experienced nonprofit fundraising professional who is organized, relationship-oriented, data-informed, and able to work independently as part of a small team. This is an office-based position with donor meetings and events throughout San Diego County. There is no direct animal contact/handling.

POSITION RESPONSIBL

Donor Stewardship & Engagement Manage FACE’s donor stewardship program with a focus on retention, engagement, and increased giving. Build relationships with recurring, mid-level, and assigned donors. Manage an assigned donor portfolio and support annual giving, memorial giving, sponsorships, campaigns, and events. Maintain donor communication, recognition, and privacy preferences. Respond to donor inquiries promptly and professionally. Maintain confidentiality regarding donor and organizational information. Donor Segmentation & Monthly Giving Design and maintain donor segmentation in Salesforce. Use donor data to identify opportunities for renewal, upgrading, and re-engagement. Lead efforts to grow FACE’s monthly donor program and recurring revenue. Track and report donor retention and monthly giving results Major Donor and Foundation Relations Advise and support the Executive Director on major donor cultivation and stewardship; the Executive Director retains primary responsibility for major donor relationships. Support major donor research, communications, meetings, and follow-up. Build relationships with current and prospective grantmaking foundations. Coordinate foundation stewardship, reporting, meetings, and follow-up. Donor Communications & Technology Develop donor acknowledgments, appeals, updates, and stewardship communications. Maintain automated donor messages and communication workflows. Maintain accurate donor records and activity in Salesforce. Produce fundraising reports and help identify donor stories and impact information. Teamwork Collaborate with the Executive Director, staff, and volunteers on fundraising initiatives. Participate in staff meetings with prepared updates on projects and priorities. Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation. Ability to work at a computer for extended periods. Ability to attend donor meetings and FACE events at various locations. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of five (5) years of professional nonprofit experience. Minimum of two (2) years of donor stewardship or donor relations experience. Must support FACE Foundation’s mission and have a passion for animals/animal welfare. Demonstrated professional experience using Salesforce. Experience with donor segmentation, database management, fundraising reporting, and automated donor communications. Proven ability to build strong donor and funder relationships. Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and meet deadlines.
