McLaren Northern has incorporated a strict 3 strike attendance policy to advocate for their patient population. Any RN contractor who is absent from a scheduled shift or is more than 20 minutes late for their scheduled shift 3 times will be terminated effective immediately. Situations such as a communicable disease or hospitalization with supporting evidence will be reviewed in favor of the contractor. This policy will begin on 6/1/2024. Level 2 North is a 28-bed medical surgical unit with a diverse patient population including general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, trauma, and it is the stroke unit for the hospital. It is a challenging, fast-paced environment offering great learning opportunities for both graduate and experienced nurses. Nursing on this unit is patient-centered and focused on patient safety and quality care for positive patient outcomes. The team values each member's contribution towards providing evidence-based and holistic care. The unit has an active and engaged unit based council (shared governance) that promotes a healthy work environment of teamwork and positivity. New team members are welcomed and supported through comprehensive orientation, fostering professional growth. The interdisciplinary team utilizes clinical pathways, patient education, and effective communication to ensure comprehensive patient care and positive outcomes.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care based on assessments and patient needs.
• Pursue continuous learning through certifications, advanced practice, higher education, and literature review.
• Demonstrate leadership by sharing knowledge and serving as a clinical resource and professional role model.
• Communicate effectively via collegial relationships, SBAR, and interdisciplinary channels.
• Manage time efficiently and assist others to enhance team performance.
• Perform other duties as aligned with job competencies and objectives.

Hourly pay rate: $59.63
