Fall 2026 Editorial Undergraduate Internship

The Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law is a nonpartisan law and policy institute that seeks to improve the systems of democracy and justice in the United States. We work to hold our political institutions and laws accountable to the twin American ideals of democracy and equal justice for all. The Brennan Center’s work ranges from voting rights to campaign finance reform, from ending mass incarceration to preserving constitutional protections in national security policies. Part think tank, part advocacy group, part cutting‑edge communications hub, we start with rigorous research, craft innovative policies, and fight for them—in Congress, the states, the courts, and in the court of public opinion. Note: This internship is in-person at our New York office. Responsibilities As an intern on the Editorial team, you will edit, proofread, and administratively support policy reports and website material, brainstorm content across platforms, and help script videos. You will also have opportunities to attend and observe substantive meetings and events. Proofread print and web material, and collateral content such as social media posts, video scripts, and podcast episode descriptions. Copyedit reports, video scripts, social media posts and graphics, and staff bios. Line edit reports and other selected publications. Assist the editorial team in reviewing proposals and developing supplementary content for reports. Draft compelling display copy for publications. Additional administrative and reception duties as assigned. Qualifications Independent, resourceful, detail-oriented, and highly organized. Excellent editing, research, writing, and analytical skills. Passion for democracy and justice. College journalism or other editorial experience preferred. Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style or other editorial style guides is a plus. If you are uncertain about meeting 100% of our qualifications, we encourage you to apply.
