Client Overview: Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit healthcare organization dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible healthcare services to underserved communities. The organization is experiencing continued growth and is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. Salary/Hourly Rate: Up to $165,000 Position Overview: The Controller will oversee all accounting and financial operations for a complex nonprofit healthcare organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will lead a team of accounting professionals and be responsible for financial reporting, compliance, audits, grants management, cash management, payroll, and strategic financial support. Responsibilities of the Controller: Lead all accounting and finance operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, grant accounting, contracts, and cash management. Manage the monthly and year-end close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting. Prepare financial statements, forecasts, regulatory filings, and board reporting packages. Coordinate and manage external audits and regulatory reviews. Ensure compliance with GAAP, grant requirements, Uniform Guidance, Medicare, Medicaid, and other applicable regulations. Partner with executive leadership to support strategic financial planning and organizational decision-making. Develop, mentor, and supervise a team of accounting and finance professionals. Strengthen internal controls, policies, and financial processes to support organizational growth. Required Experience/Skills for the Controller: 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience. Prior experience within a nonprofit healthcare environment. Strong audit management experience, including Uniform Guidance audits. Experience with grant and contract accounting. Deep understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and regulatory compliance requirements. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Proven experience leading and developing accounting teams. Preferred Experience/Skills for the Controller: Experience within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or similar healthcare organization. Public accounting background strongly preferred. Experience with Sage Intacct, Solomon, and/or Paycom. Experience managing accounting operations for organizations with $10M+ operating budgets. Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required. CPA or equivalent public accounting experience strongly preferred. Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
