Training Specialist

Training Specialist 2 Department: Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Division of Administrative Services (DAS) Bargaining Unit: General Government (GGU) unit 18 Location: Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska Eligibility: Open to Alaska residents only. Please review the Definition FAQ for qualification details. Work Schedule Full-time onsite required; remote work up to two days per week during probation period, subject to manager approval. What You Will Be Doing Assess training needs and skill gaps independently, design targeted learning solutions aligned with department policies in budgeting, procurement, grants, and personnel processes. Collaborate with leadership and subject matter experts to develop curricula, job aids, and training resources that promote consistency and compliance. Deliver training through in-person, virtual, and e-learning formats, tailoring content for diverse audiences. Provide coaching, mentorship, and consultative support to staff to apply learning and improve performance. Manage and continuously improve training programs, coordinating logistics, maintaining records, and evaluating effectiveness using instructional design and adult learning principles. Minimum Qualifications Communications and Media: Knowledge of producing, communicating, and disseminating information via written, oral, and visual media. Education and Training: Knowledge of instructional methods, testing, and presenting. Employee Development: Knowledge of planning, evaluating, and administering training and career development. Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates understanding, courtesy, empathy, and effective relationship building across diverse backgrounds. Equivalent Experience Training or education in training and development, human resources, education, instructional design, business administration, or related field; and/or progressively responsible professional experience in developing, delivering, revising, assessing, and evaluating training needs and effectiveness.
