JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY The Facilities Department is responsible for repairs, maintenance, and modifications to the site, building, and production support systems (e.g., HVAC, electricity, compressed air, plumbing, etc.). The role is a Licensed Commercial HVAC Journeyman in Kentucky with a valid EPA Certification, assigned to the 3rd Shift (Sunday–Friday, 10:30 PM – 6:30 AM). Upon assignment of a repair, the technician will investigate and perform root cause analysis, complete immediate repairs, and develop countermeasures to prevent future failures. The technician will coordinate with appropriate parties, schedule work, document labor, parts, and materials in the CMMS, and close out the work order. For preventive maintenance activities, the technician will review the job plan, gather tools and materials, adhere to safety plans, test the system, replace panels and fasteners, clean the work area, return tools and unused materials, and document all labor and materials in the CMMS. When assigned a modification, the technician will work with the designer on data gathering, parts selection, piping layout, scheduling, and other necessary tasks. Continuous improvement is expected: the technician should identify and report recommendations for improving job plans, spare parts inventory, tools, communication methods, and planning. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Use the CMMS to receive work assignments, look up parts, materials, and tools before starting work. Record readings, conditions, time, and other triggers for maintenance activity in the CMMS. Document activity information, capture labor data, and close out assignments in the CMMS. Utilize checklists to perform Autonomous Maintenance walks and report anomalies. Provide and use basic hand tools to complete repairs, maintenance, and modifications. Keep tool boxes, storage cabinets, work areas, machines, and systems clean, trash-free, and organized (5S). Perform repairs, maintenance, and modifications in a safe, efficient, and high‑quality manner with minimal disruption to operations. Perform root cause analysis of failures to determine necessary repairs and countermeasures. Complete required trainings on schedule. Participate in department meetings related to training and operations. QUALIFICATIONS Licensed Commercial HVAC Journeyman with a valid EPA certification. Possess basic hand tools and a chest, box, or bag; larger tools will be provided by Bendix. Fluently communicate in English, including writing, reading, and speaking. Perform basic math and arithmetic functions. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; preference for those with completed technical degrees in engineering, physics, mathematics, etc. Understand and be able to teach the refrigeration cycle. Hold a current license, preferably Universal level, to procure and handle chlorinated fluorocarbon refrigerants. Read and understand wiring schematics and diagrams. Experience in an industrial facilities maintenance role, including HVAC, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, and controls. Familiarity with a computerized maintenance management system, preferably SAP Plant Maintenance. Search and utilize the internet for maintenance needs. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook or similar email software. Experience with root cause analysis tools such as 5 Whys. A self‑starter with high quality and performance values. Willing and able to work on all assignments from restroom to roof. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Physical activities required: Walking, kneeling, squatting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and walking on uneven surfaces. Working on roofs, ladders, and lifts. Operating powered industrial trucks and personnel lifts. Using hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, discern colors. Engaging in prolonged standing, walking, and talking. Adequate hearing protection is required for noise levels of 85 decibels and above. COMPLEMENTARY INFORMATION The anticipated wage for candidates in Bowling Green, KY is $30.49 per hour, subject to experience and qualifications.
