Freelance Onsite Houston Reports to Content Team Lead About the Role We are seeking a Senior Content Editor to support a fast-paced content studio.This hands-on, player-coach role combines original writing, editorial leadership, and quality assurance across internal and external communications. You will help shape clear, compelling, and brand-consistent content across editorial, social, email, web, executive communications, and multimedia channels. You will also mentor a small team of Content Editors, providing thoughtful feedback and helping elevate editorial standards across every assignment. What You’ll Do Lead, mentor, and review the work of two Content Editors. Ensure copy meets high standards for structure, clarity, accuracy, tone, and brand consistency before publication. Write original copy from briefs, outlines, scripts, and stakeholder talking points. Edit and refine long-form, short-form, social, email, web, and executive communications. Serve as a senior editorial resource for brand voice, style, and content-quality decisions. Provide substantive editing, copyediting, proofreading, and final quality checks. Create and adapt headlines, captions, social copy, and short-form storytelling for varied audiences and platforms. Partner closely with writers, designers, content creators, and studio leadership to deliver cohesive stories. Support scripts and copy for video and other multimedia content. Incorporate stakeholder, legal, compliance, and review feedback while maintaining content clarity and integrity. Manage a mix of planned assignments and quick-turn requests in a collaborative production environment. What You Bring 3–6 years of hands-on experience in writing, editing, editorial, social content, communications, journalism, or a related field. Experience in an agency, corporate creative studio, newsroom, or comparable content-focused environment. Demonstrated ability to write original content from a brief, outline, script, or set of talking points. Strong editing, proofreading, storytelling, grammar, and style skills across multiple formats. Experience mentoring, leading, or informally guiding writers and editors. Sound judgment when applying brand voice, editorial standards, and style guidelines. Experience creating and editing content for social media, with awareness of platform-specific formats and audiences. Ability to balance hands-on production work with review and coaching responsibilities. Collaborative communication style and comfort working independently in an integrated creative team. Experience with video scripts or multimedia copy is a plus. Work Environment This freelance opportunity supports a collaborative content team serving an exciting corporation.
