Key Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working in school-based settings preferred
- Comprehensive understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and federal/state regulations
- Strong collaboration skills with staff, families, and related service providers
- Ability to employ age-appropriate instructional strategies and adaptive technologies
- Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) strongly desired
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, individually and in small groups
- Assist classroom teachers with strategies, modifications, and resources to promote accessibility and engagement
- Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and the development of educational plans
- Advocate for students’ needs while nurturing their self-advocacy skills and confidence
- Engage with families to provide updates, support, and training as needed
- Stay current with best practices, professional development, and relevant technology
