Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory Therapist Specialty: Respiratory Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12.0 Hours per Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience License: Must hold a valid Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License Certifications: Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP Must-Have: - Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) - Minimum of 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience Description: The Registered Respiratory Therapist performs respiratory care in all settings. This includes aerosol therapy, airway clearance, and blood gas analysis. Endotracheal intubation and ventilator management are also part of the role. The therapist performs patient assessments and evaluates the effectiveness of care. Basic respiratory care provided includes oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, airway clearance, incentive spirometry, and BiPAP. Critical and complex respiratory care is performed as needed. The therapist uses critical thinking skills to resolve clinical issues and optimize patient care. Assessing learning needs of patients and their families is a key responsibility. Relevant education is provided to enhance understanding. The therapist responds to emergencies, including Code-Blues, Code-Pinks, and Rapid Response Teams. Documentation of care provided is completed in the electronic medical record (EMR). Open communication with all members of the healthcare team is essential. This includes SBAR handoffs and reporting of critical test results. Active participation in process improvement activities is expected. The therapist also performs non-patient care duties related to respiratory care, like equipment troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
