Territory Manager - Personal Lines (CA - Sacramento)

About the Role Nationwide’s Property and Casualty team seeks a Territory Manager based in California – Sacramento. The role focuses on building and maintaining relationships with independent agency distribution partners throughout the Sacramento area, with occasional engagement in Northern California. Candidates must reside in the assigned territory and be willing to travel regularly to meet agency partners in person. Key Responsibilities Understand the strategic and operational goals of the assigned territory and individual distribution partners to identify mutually beneficial solutions using data, local market insights, and competitor knowledge. Proactively identify and implement actions to achieve territory goals. Lead new business and transfer processes, including the identification of new transfers, setting expectations, managing commitments, and ensuring delivery of new or transferred business production. Leverage tools and resources such as Salesforce, Seismic, dashboards, and reporting to increase operational efficiency. Gather distribution partner feedback and share continuous improvement opportunities with business partners across the company. Collaborate with personal lines, farm geography partners, and other Nationwide counterparts (claims, servicing, etc.) on problem solving, education, promotion, and review of sales practices. Complete the annual planning process for appropriate distribution partners; document agreements in Salesforce and hold partners accountable to those agreements. Partner with Product, Marketing, and other business partners to identify and act on opportunities within the territory. Lead portfolio management meetings with distribution partners to ensure alignment with territory goals, monitor portfolio data, and drive profitability and revenue through assigned relationships. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Undergraduate degree in business, insurance, sales, marketing, or related fields (preferred). 8–10 years of sales or sales management experience; prior property‑casualty or financial services experience desirable. Strong background in the independent agency distribution channel and carrier‑side sales management experience. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and to achieve top‑line performance. Key skills include: ability to uncover root causes and evaluate risks, customer‑focus, strong accountability, situational adaptability, effective communication and presentation skills, planning and alignment, and proven ability to drive results and collaborate. Reporting Relationships Reports to a Sales Associate Vice President or Vice President; functions as an individual contributor. Job Conditions Frequent travel required with potential overnight stays. Regular in‑person engagement with agency partners is essential to maintain a field presence and support agency relationships and growth. A valid driver’s license and safe driving record are required. Exempt from overtime.
