Territory Manager - Personal Lines (CA - Central Valley / Fresno)

Job Description Summary Nationwide’s Property and Casualty team is seeking a Territory Manager for the California Central Valley/Fresno area. The role requires living within the territory, frequent travel, and regular in‑person engagement with agency partners to strengthen relationships and drive profitable growth. The successful candidate will leverage carrier and agency experience, data and analytics, and Salesforce tools to manage new business, transfer processes, and portfolio performance. Key Responsibilities Understand strategic and operational goals of the assigned territory and distribution partners, and identify mutually beneficial solutions using data, analytics, local market information and competitor knowledge. Proactively identify and implement actions to achieve territory goals. Lead new business and transfer processes, including identification of new transfer and new business appointments; set expectations, manage commitments, and ensure delivery of new or transferred business production. Leverage tools and resources (e.g., Salesforce, Seismic, dashboards and reporting) to increase operational efficiency. Gather distribution partner feedback and share continuous improvement opportunities with business partners across the company. Collaborate with personal lines, farm geography partners, and other Nationwide counterparts (claims, servicing) on problem solving, education, promotion, review of sales practices and input. Complete the annual planning process for appropriate distribution partners, document agreements in Salesforce, and hold partners accountable to agreements. Partner with Product, Marketing and other business partners to identify and act on opportunities within the territory. Lead portfolio management meetings with the appropriate distribution partners to ensure alignment with territory goals; monitor portfolio data and analysis to drive profitability and revenue through assigned relationships, focusing on both top‑line and bottom‑line growth. May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Reporting Relationships Reports to Sales Associate Vice President or Vice President; individual contributor role. Typical Skills and Experiences Education: Undergraduate studies in general business, insurance, sales, marketing or related fields; degree preferred. Experience: Typically eight to ten years of sales or sales management experience; prior property‑casualty or financial services experience desirable. Complexity Management: Ability to uncover root causes of issues and evaluate risks/benefits of different solution options. Customer Focus: Ability to establish and maintain effective customer/distribution partner relationships. Accountability: Very strong ability to establish clear responsibilities and processes for monitoring work and measuring results. Situational Adaptability: Proven ability to readily adapt personal/interpersonal behavior and adjust in the moment. Communication: Strong communication and presentation skills. Plan and Align: Expert knowledge of how to break down objectives into appropriate initiatives and actions. Result Orientation: Proven ability to drive results, persuade, collaborate and act with courage. Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences, may take precedence.
