Category Manager III – Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

Location: San Diego, CA – Downtown
Schedule: Hybrid – 4 days onsite preferred
Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Pay Rate: $75-80/hour DOE
Type: W2 Contract with potential for conversion

Position Overview

Join a leading energy and infrastructure organization as a Category Manager III , supporting strategic sourcing, contracting, and procurement initiatives. This role will lead complex sourcing projects, RFPs, contract negotiations, and supplier strategies while partnering closely with business stakeholders, Legal, Risk, and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Lead strategic sourcing initiatives across multiple categories.
Develop and execute RFPs, RFQs, and supplier evaluations.
Draft, negotiate, and manage supplier contracts.
Develop sourcing strategies focused on cost savings, risk reduction, and service improvements.
Conduct supplier, market, pricing, and competitive analysis.
Lead supplier negotiations and selection processes.
Manage multiple sourcing and contracting projects simultaneously.
Partner with Legal, Risk, leadership, and business stakeholders.
Track supplier performance, savings, and category results.
Support continuous improvement of procurement and sourcing processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
5–8 years of strategic sourcing, procurement, category management, or contracting experience.
Strong experience with RFPs, contract drafting, and negotiations .
Demonstrated success delivering measurable cost savings.
Strong project and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
Experience with Ariba or similar eProcurement/eSourcing systems preferred.
Experience sourcing IT, Facilities, Marketing, or Travel categories is a plus.
MBA and/or procurement certification is a plus.

Ideal Candidate: A hands-on strategic sourcing professional who can independently lead complex contracts and RFPs, confidently partner with senior stakeholders, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
