Looking for a rewarding contract opportunity for the 2026–2027 school year? Dedicated paraprofessionals are needed to support various school communities in Lehigh and Carbon Counties. Assignments begin August 10, 2026, with Opening Day and Summer Academy offering limited initial hours—regular school schedules resume later in August. You’ll play a crucial role in classrooms providing multiple disabilities support as well as emotional support, making a direct impact in students’ daily lives.
Ideal candidates bring at least 1 year of experience as a school-based paraprofessional (including special education), live within a 35-minute commute, and are ready to meet Pennsylvania paraprofessional certification requirements.
What You’ll Need:
- At least 1 year in a paraprofessional or special education classroom role
- Residence within 35 minutes of assignment sites (Lehigh and Carbon Counties)
- Availability for school hours between 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, per assignment
- Willingness to handle behaviors such as elopement, physical outbursts, and basic personal care tasks
- At least one of the following: 48 college credits, an associate degree (or higher), or completion of a qualifying assessment/certification ; if not already certified, must complete certification within 60 days of hire
- Two supervisory references with positive performance ratings (3.5+ if using RefAssure)
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct classroom and small group support to students with disabilities
- Assist with classroom routines, behavioral support, and student-specific needs
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff for individualized education plans
- Ensure student safety and engagement throughout the school day
You’ll enjoy varied classroom placements matched, if possible, to your preference and district needs, structured week-day schedules (32.5–35 hrs/week), and an environment where your commitment is valued. In-person interviews take place weekly, with positions filled on a first-completed-onboarding, first-served basis.
