Overview
Direct Counsel is seeking an M&A Associate to join a top-tier corporate practice in Chicago. This role offers hands-on experience leading complex public and private M&A and private equity transactions in a fast-paced, high-level environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead M&A transactions from inception through closing
- Draft and negotiate acquisition agreements and transaction documents
- Manage due diligence teams and processes
- Advise on corporate governance and general corporate matters
- Collaborate across practice groups and help mentor junior associates
Qualifications
- 4+ years of M&A and corporate transaction experience
- Strong drafting and deal management skills
- Experience with private equity transactions preferred
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership abilities
- Illinois Bar admission (or eligibility) required
Compensation & Benefits
- $250,000 – $420,000 base salary + bonus
- Hybrid schedule (Chicago office)
