Locum Gastroenterologist Opportunity in Lufkin, TX

An excellent locum opportunity for a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Gastroenterologist to provide inpatient coverage in a leading healthcare facility in Lufkin, Texas. This role offers a steady workload, supportive staff, and an ongoing need to fill coverage gaps through 20252026.

Inpatient-only Gastroenterology practice. Coverage needed for specific 20252026 dates (listed below). Required procedures: Endoscopies, Colonoscopies, and ERCP. Anesthesia support available conscious sedation preferred when possible. EMR: Paragon (transitioning to EPIC in late 2026). Support staff: Experienced endoscopy-trained GI nursing team. Reason for coverage: Permanent GI provider leaving. Average callback: 4 hours per week.

Candidate requirements:

Board Certification or Eligibility in Gastroenterology Highly Preferred. Texas State License Required. ERCP capability Required. ACLS Certification Required. Clean malpractice and background Highly Preferred. Availability to cover listed dates Required.

Schedule & coverage:

FTE: 1 provider needed. Rounding: Yes approximately up to 10 patients/day. Hospital handles all patient admissions. Emergency credentialing available for clean files (3060 day timeframe). Cases include: Abdominal pain, GI bleed, SBO, food bolus, ulceration, gastritis, and carcinoma diagnosis (no treatment).
