Machine Operator Melt Shop

Positions available on both Day and Night Continental Shifts

Working under general supervision, load/unload the Melting Furnace, move materials to various areas inside and outside the facility using powered forklift truck and stage the proper materials for furnace operation. Control material movement. Transport material between departments while ensuring proper routing of material is maintained. May be required to perform other activities including picking orders, taking inventory, shipping and receiving. Fully trained to facilitate receipt, storage and dispatch of packaged inventory. Responsible for the loading and unloading of the Furnace. Will be responsible for the safe transportation of liquid aluminum from the Furnace to the Die Casting cell.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload and move products and materials by hand or using basic material handling equipment
• Perform other material handling activities such as counting, weighing, sorting, packing and unpacking.
• Operate winches and other loading devices to load and unload materials onto and off trucks.
• Operate a forklift in a safe manner, including both loading and unloading of freight.
• Have the ability to safely pour liquid aluminum from a ladle into the Die Casting cell using a powered forklift truck
• Keep the furnace maintained with the proper amount of raw aluminum and recycled material
• Perform forklift daily inspection to include the changing of battery.
• Keep all manufacturing, shipping and receiving areas organized.
• Provide internal transport of die-casting parts to the proper areas.
• Executing testing for spectral analysis and density testing Aluminum
• Executing lean treatment for aluminum Degassing unit
• Distribution and delivery of all empty containers from the production area to proper location.
• Emptying pallet cages of used sand, waste grit, cardboard packaging and other products in accordance to the regulations.
• Empty scrap bins into proper containers.
• May perform other activities, such as opening containers and crates, filling warehouse orders, assisting in taking inventory and weighing and checking materials.
• Other duties as assigned.

Academic/Educational Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Skills/Experience

• Ability to work with a partner and independently as needed. Use a team approach to get materials ready so that they may be moved out efficiently.
• Use computer-operated machinery to print delivery slips.
• Complete all required training prior to on the job training.
• Continuously learn on the job.
• Receive training in first aid or safe use of forklifts.
• Ability to get Forklift Certified licensed
• Ability to get Crane Certified licensed (if required)
