Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

We emphasize the overall wellbeing of our residents and provide excellent care and customer service. Job Summary Responsible for carrying out the instructions of the Director of Wellness. Supervise and monitor nursing staff to obtain highest quality care by performing routine nursing duties. Accountable to Director of Wellness/Executive Director for all nursing department activities and maintaining the corporate philosophy of quality care. Duties and Responsibilities Supervise HHAs, CNAs and the facility staff. Make daily rounds of all Assisted Living residents and retirement residents if needed. Observe and report symptoms and conditions of patients to Director of Wellness. Administer medications and treatments per signed doctor’s orders accurately, safely, observe effectiveness, and report to physician if needed. Inform the Director of Wellness of when supplies and equipment are needed. Order medication from pharmacy when needed. Supervise the Home Health Aide to ensure that all nursing care is given properly, safely, and of the highest quality. Administer emergency first aid. Ensure that daily assignments for patient care and incidental duties performed by nurse and HHA as outlined by Director of Wellness are carried out; maintain documentation (e.g., vitals, weights, nurse’s notes, medication, kardex). Recognize, interpret and report conditions to the Director of Wellness, RN, or ED as needed. Maintain cleanliness and neatness of nurse’s station, med room and cart. Assist in the orientation of new staff. Complete admission and discharge evaluations as necessary. Check equipment for cleanliness and condition. Provide guidance for nursing assistants. Promote and maintain good interpersonal relationships with residents, visitors and personnel. Perform related work as required per assignment in both assisted living and independent residents throughout the facility. Benefits Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits. Note The duties above include many of the tasks for an LPN. At times it may be necessary to perform other duties as requested by the Director of Wellness. Refusal to perform any task as directed by leadership may result in disciplinary action. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program, currently licensed to practice per state. Experience in the geriatric field. Strong communication skills in writing and verbally. Ability to deal with visitors, staff and residents politely. Ability to lift, push, pull up to 60 lbs. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure at times. Good grooming practices, personal hygiene, punctual and regular attendance. Friendly, warm, congenial personality; professional appearance and empathetic attitude towards seniors. Ability to assess a resident’s condition and intervene when needed. CPR certified or obtained within 90 days of hire and yearly thereafter. May be required to have their picture taken for use in social media or community advertising.
