Lecturer AY - Economics Job No: 557517 Work Type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary/Lecturer Location: Pomona Categories: Unit 3 - CFA - California Faculty Association,Temporary, Part Time, On-site (work in-person at businesslocation) Temporary Faculty Pool Department of Economics College of Letters Arts and Social Sciences About Cal Poly Pomona Pomona is one of three polytechnic universities in the 22‑campus California State University system and among 12 such institutions nationwide. Since its founding in 1938, Cal Poly Pomona students participate in an integrative experiential learning education that is inclusive, relevant, and values diverse perspectives and experiences. With a variety of degree programs in the arts, humanities, sciences, engineering, and professional disciplines, the university is well known for its learn‑by‑doing approach and Teacher Scholar Model. The university is noted for its scenic and historic 1,400‑acre campus, which was once the winter ranch of cereal magnate W.K. Kellogg. We acknowledge that Cal Poly Pomona resides on the territorial and homelands of the Tongva and Tataavium people who are the traditional land caretakers of Tovaangar. The university's nearly 30,000 students are taught and mentored by the campus's more than 1,400 faculty as part of 54 baccalaureate and 29 master’s degree programs, 11 credential and certificate programs, and a doctorate in educational leadership. About the College of Letters Arts and Social Sciences Cal Poly Pomona's College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences (CLASS) brings to life a vibrant hands‑on experience through disciplines in the humanities, performing arts, and social sciences. As the heart and soul of the campus, the College's mission is to cultivate one's intellectual development, ethical reasoning, and aesthetic sensibility to support creative and critical thinking in a dynamic world of competing challenges. We are a community diverse in backgrounds, expertise, and thought, committed to improving the human condition and to bettering the world. Our faculty, students, and staff are devoted to creating an inclusive environment where all can thrive through the College's programs, research activities, creative performances, community outreach, and signature experiences. Learn more about CLASS and our 12 distinct departments at About the Department of Economics The Department offers a BS degree in Economics with three options: General, Applied and Quantitative. We also offer an MS degree in Quantitative Economics. Both the BS and MS degrees are STEM designated, qualifying graduates for higher pay scale jobs and 3‑year OPT visas for international F‑1 visa students. Both undergraduate and graduate programs provide a strong foundation in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Econometrics, as well as quantitative skills embedded in nearly all courses. The department offers a summer German exchange program and supports student participation in other CPP‑supported study abroad programs and internships. The MS requires 30 units with all required courses offered evenings. Our 4+1 program allows those earning the BS to complete the MS in one additional year. The department relies heavily on lectures and values their ability to expose students to a variety of techniques, experiences and perspectives. Applicants committed to teaching our diverse group of students and able to cope with schedule uncertainty are encouraged to apply. The Position The Department is not currently hiring but will review the temporary faculty pool if and when the need arises. The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid‑December; the Spring term begins mid‑January and ends in mid‑May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.
