You directly oversee a cohort of K‑3 students while also coaching the Guides (Alpha's terminology for the adults who coach and inspire students) who manage their day‑to‑day progress. You remain actively engaged every day, never managing remotely from a separate office. A typical day alternates among three core activities: you analyze performance metrics and Coachbot analytics to identify which students and Guides need intervention; you conduct coaching sessions that equip people with clear next actions rather than generalized encouragement; and you command the focus of a room filled with five‑ to nine‑year‑olds during workshops on topics like public speaking, concentration, or feedback exchange. When you identify effective methods, you document them. The playbooks you create become the standard that all other Guides implement, expanding your influence from a single cohort to the entire grade level. What You Will Be Doing Coaching both Guides and students through performance metrics, classroom observation, and clear feedback, then maintaining accountability to quantifiable objectives. Leading one‑hour live workshops for K‑3 students focused on life skills including public speaking, concentration, teamwork, resilience, accountability, and feedback processes. Conducting individual and small‑group motivational sessions that link each child's personal goals and interests to tangible academic advancement. Creating and refining playbooks that convert your proven methods into replicable systems that other Guides can implement reliably. Training Guides on these playbooks and demonstrating excellence in facilitation to maintain standards as the team expands. What You Won’t Be Doing Providing academic instruction or lecturing from the front; adaptive apps handle content delivery while you focus on coaching people. Reducing expectations when students encounter difficulties. Managing from a distance like traditional instructional coaches and principals; you remain embedded daily with your cohort. Managing campus‑wide budget, operations, and parent relations; a Campus Lead handles those responsibilities so you can concentrate on student and Guide results. Advocating for traditional teaching approaches or implementing a conventional K‑12 curriculum. Head Coach Key Responsibilities Fulfill Alpha's three commitments to every K‑3 student: they love school, learn twice as fast, and develop exceptional life skills and independence. Basic Requirements Able to work on‑site at an Alpha campus in Austin, TX or Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ; support for relocation is available. Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, Organizational Leadership, Child Development, or related discipline. Minimum 5 years of experience working with elementary‑aged children (approximately ages 5 to 9). Experience leading a team of 5 or more individuals, including hiring authority and the ability to remove team members based on performance. Experience building, launching, or substantially growing a program, team, school, or initiative from inception, not taking over an established one. Comfortable operating in a school environment that rejects traditional teaching methods. Legal authorization to work in the United States. Nice‑to‑have Requirements Master's degree in a relevant field. Demonstrated history using metrics, dashboards, or analytics to identify issues and achieve measurable improvement. Experience coaching or managing other adults to reach measurable outcomes, not simply executing tasks yourself. Background in youth development, camp leadership, competitive coaching, tutoring, or enrichment programs where motivation played a central role. Confidence and ability facilitating or speaking publicly before groups of young children.
