Job Title

Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown

Location

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 12-Hour Shifts | 36 Hours per Week | 13-Week Assignment

Key Responsibilities

• Provide progressive care nursing for a complex neurological patient population including acute stroke management (ischemic, hemorrhagic, SAH), post-neurosurgical patients (craniotomy, ventriculostomy, complex neuro-spine), and seizure management
• Care for patients with diagnoses including Multiple Sclerosis, Guillain-Barré, encephalopathy, brain tumors, laminectomies, and transverse myelitis
• Perform and assist with procedures including lumbar punctures, arterial line management, central line care, lumbar drain management, IV starts, peripheral and arterial blood draws, and tracheotomy patient care
• Administer and monitor various intravenous drips including cardiac, insulin, and heparin infusions
• Perform cardiac monitoring including rhythm strip reading and interpretation
• Conduct and document NIHSS assessments per unit protocol

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact State license
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS certification
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Neuro nursing experience required
• Experience with EPIC electronic health records

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience
• Experience managing post-neurosurgical patients including craniotomy and ventriculostomy care
• Familiarity with lumbar drain management and complex neuro-spine surgical recovery
