Behavioral Health Billing Specialist is responsible for the accurate submission, follow-up, and collection of claims for Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) services across multiple states and Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs). This role requires knowledge of Medicaid billing, authorization-driven reimbursement, and multi-state payer requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in behavioral health revenue cycle management. Responsibilities Submit claims for PRTF per diem services to Medicaid FFS and Managed Care payers ensuring alignment with approved authorizations and contracted rates. Perform Accounts Receivable & Collections, following up with Medicaid and MCO payers to secure timely payment and maintain knowledge of multi‑state Medicaid billing requirements. Track reported billed days versus authorized days, maintaining HIPAA compliance and safeguarding protected health information. Qualifications 2+ years of behavioral health or healthcare billing experience; experience billing Medicaid and Managed Care payers. Strong understanding of authorization-based billing processes. Preferred Qualifications Direct experience billing PRTF or residential behavioral health services. Multi-state Medicaid billing experience. Education High School or better.
