This contract opportunity offers you the chance to deliver adaptive PE instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, all while fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive atmosphere. As an itinerant Adaptive PE teacher, you will work closely with other special education professionals, students, and families to promote physical, cognitive, and social development.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree from an approved education program.
• Valid NCDPI PE Certification (please provide proof with your application).
• Background working with students with disabilities or within adaptive physical education settings preferred.
• Strong collaborative and communication skills.
• Ability to develop and adapt instructional plans to meet unique IEP goals and diverse student needs.

Responsibilities:

• Create and implement engaging, adaptive physical education lessons tailored to individual abilities and learning plans.
• Modify activities to ensure accessibility and safety for students with various needs and backgrounds.
• Track and assess student progress, effectively managing classroom behaviors and supporting motor development.
• Collaborate with classroom and special education teachers, therapists, and family members to facilitate student success.
• Maintain documentation, uphold district policies, participate in professional development opportunities, and supervise students during activities.
