Travel Registered Nurse (RN) Oncology

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: MedSurg/Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ONS/ONCC (Chemotherapy Biotherapy) certification is a plus. Must-Have: Experience with general MedSurg patients, post-operative care, and oncology patients with complications. Experience with chest tubes, especially PleurX, is a strong plus. Ability to titrate Heparin drips is required. Nurses must be capable of reading and interpreting telemetry strips.

Description: The unit consists of 36 beds with both private rooms and shared accommodations. Typical nurse-patient ratios are 1:5-6. Common diagnoses include general MedSurg patients, post-operative cases such as laparoscopic cholecystectomies and appendectomies, and oncology patients with neutropenic precautions, pneumonia, and infections. Permanent nurses administer chemotherapy. The unit commonly uses CPAP and BiPAP equipment, managed by respiratory therapists. The charge nurse is available 24/7, with day shifts not taking patient assignments and night shifts being assigned patients. There are three CNAs on day shifts and three on night shifts to assist with patient care. Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours, with weekend shifts required every other weekend. Holidays are worked into the rotation with permanent staff. Nurses are expected to float to other MedSurg/Tele units as necessary while maintaining capped patient ratios. The dress code includes wearing royal blue scrubs for RNs. Charting is conducted using the EPIC system.
