TIG Welder

This role focuses on precision TIG welding of stainless and carbon steel components used in radiator assemblies. You will read and interpret work orders and blueprints, prepare and fit parts, and perform high-quality welds on thin-gauge materials with tight tolerances to ensure leak-free performance.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and schematics to ensure all assemblies meet specified requirements.
• Mark weld points and component positions on workpieces using rules, squares, templates, or scribes to prepare for accurate assembly.
• Select, position, align, and secure jigs, holding fixtures, guides, or stops onto machines using measuring instruments and hand tools.
• TIG weld stainless and carbon steel materials ranging from approximately 1/16 inch to 1/2 inch, maintaining consistent quality and appearance.
• Connect tubing on assembled radiators by welding small U-shaped tubes from one tube to the next to achieve leak-free joints.
• Perform precision welding on light-gauge stainless steel with small tolerances, including thin metals down to approximately 0.35 thickness.
• Execute welds in challenging positions, including standing over the top of welds and working in partial blind spots while maintaining control and accuracy.
• Perform the majority of welds while seated, adjusting welding tables to appropriate heights for safe and ergonomic work.
• Prepare surfaces and workpieces using hand-operated equipment such as grinders, cutters, and drills to ensure proper weld readiness.
• Remove completed workpieces or parts from machinery using appropriate hand tools and handle them with care to avoid damage.
• Inspect welds for defects or non-compliance and perform necessary repairs or rework to meet quality standards.
• Follow all company policies and procedures, including safety protocols and quality standards, throughout the production process.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and use tools, fixtures, and equipment properly to support efficient production.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience working with TIG welding on stainless steel at a single employer.
• Demonstrated experience with light-gauge TIG welding on stainless steel with small tolerances.
• Ability to TIG weld stainless and carbon steel in thicknesses from approximately 1/16 inch to 1/2 inch.
• Proficiency working with small parts and thin metals down to approximately 0.35 thickness.
• Strong blueprint and schematic reading skills to interpret and follow technical requirements.
• Hands-on experience with stainless steel welding in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with welding-related tools, fixtures, and equipment.
• Ability to perform precise welds in varying positions, including working over the top of welds and in partial blind spots.
• Experience using hand tools such as grinders, cutters, drills, and measuring instruments.
• Commitment to following safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Formal welding schooling or technical training is highly preferred.
• Ideally 3–4 years of TIG welding experience to supplement technical schooling or equivalent training.
• Experience with MIG welding in addition to TIG welding is beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent weld quality on thin materials.
• Capability to work comfortably in both seated and standing positions depending on the weld location.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other team members in a production setting.

Work Environment

The role is based in a modern manufacturing environment with very clean facilities and up-to-date equipment. The workspace features temperature control to help maintain a comfortable setting throughout the year. Most welding is performed while seated, with welding tables that can be raised or lowered to achieve proper ergonomic working heights, although some tasks require standing over parts and welding in more challenging positions. Employees may listen to music within defined safety guidelines, which are reviewed during orientation. Use of personal phones is restricted on the production floor to maintain safety and focus. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52832.00 - $68723.00/yr.
