Law Clerk (Program Administrator 1) -Central Office

Job Description Responsibilities: Assist with research, case analysis & evaluation and preparation of legal memoranda, agenda items, orders, subpoenas; review files; prepare and disseminate complaints, correspondence, orders, entries and legal memoranda; schedule in-person and virtual meetings and conferences. Compile case information electronically or through correspondence; use expertise to support the General Counsel and Executive Director, manage office records; provide legal & administrative support to the General Counsel and Executive Director; assist with drafting legal documents and correspondence, organizing case files, scheduling, and preparing materials for the Attorney General’s Office; operate personal computer using Microsoft applications, web browsers and web‑based research programs (Westlaw, LEXIS/NEXIS, Hannah News); operate OnBase, ARC and HEMS; operate photocopier, facsimile, label maker & other general office equipment. Monitor, track, and report legislation that may impact OCRC’s authority, statute, and/or mission; prepare news clips relating to discrimination and other related matters; ensure all cases and required legal documentation are appropriately submitted and on time for commission meetings. Conduct legal and non‑legal research; assist with preparing and providing legal‑based training; assist with maintaining and preparing Administrative Code rule revisions, bona fide occupational qualification (BFOQ) requests, logs, schedules & related legal; ensures agency records are disposed of in accordance with records retention schedules; perform other related duties as assigned. Or completion of an undergraduate core program in business administration, management science or public administration; 12 months training or 12 months experience in supervisory, administrative and/or managerial position which involved limited research & public contact. Or completion of an undergraduate core program in an academic field commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on file; 12 months training or 12 months experience in supervisory, administrative, managerial and/or staff position which involved limited research & public contact. Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. Preferred Qualifications Successful completion of certification program for paralegal or legal assistant; 2 years experience in legal research & writing. Or 24 months law school training.
