Responsibilities
- Provide basic and critical respiratory care for adult and geriatric patients as ordered and in accordance with department policies.
- Administer aerosol and oxygen therapies, monitor patient response, and adjust therapy as needed.
- Assist with patients on mechanical ventilation, including ventilator management and coordination with the care team.
- Draw arterial blood gases according to policy and physician orders; document results and ensure proper charges and records.
- Maintain thorough documentation in electronic medical records; participate in training and supervision of new staff as delegated.
- Participate in department activities such as equipment surveillance, pulmonary function testing when applicable, and ongoing patient-c and staff-education activities.

Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential; Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required in California.
- Certifications: CPR/BLS required; NRP preferred; ACLS required; PALS required; PEARS preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Experience: At least two years of recent experience in respiratory care; three years preferred.
- Skills/Capabilities: Ability to work with adult and geriatric populations; able to operate and monitor ventilator equipment; proficient with electronic medical records; comfortable working night shifts and in a short-term acute care environment.
