Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Associate Region Counsel. The right candidate, under the direction of the Region Counsel, will, provide support, assistance and advice on all region’s legal matters, with an emphasis on land acquisition.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Provide legal advice related to land acquisition, development, and disposition, including drafting contracts and related documents, working with division personnel, and consulting with and coordinating outside counsel as necessaryReview and revise homebuyer contract documentsProvide advice regarding RESPA issues, FHA/VA compliance and other issuesReview, negotiate and revise subcontractor contract documents and disputesReview, negotiate and revise commercial lease documents for premises leased by the divisionsRespond to government inquiries and complaintsProvide advice regarding legal issues in construction, home sales and warrantyInvestigate, negotiate and resolve homebuyer and homeowner disputesProvide advice regarding various region matters and ensure that region and division policies , procedures and contracts comply with all applicable laws and regulations.Review marketing contracts and programs and draft documentation and disclosures as necessaryCoordinate outside counsel as necessaryConduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the companyAbility to travel overnightSupervisory Responsibilities May directly supervise 1 or more employees in the Legal Department in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.QualificationsEducation and/or ExperienceMust possess a Jurist Doctoral degree (J.D.) and be a licensed attorney in the State of ArizonaFive to ten years of real estate / development experienceAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form or via DRH applicationsProficiency with MS Office and email.Ability to sit for majority of workday, use a computer keyboard and monitor, speak and hearPreferred QualificationsPrior experience with corporate or environmental lawStrong communication skillsAbility to multi-task and attention to detailWe offer an excellent benefits package including:Medical, Dental and Vision401(K)Employee Stock Purchase PlanFlex Spending AccountsLife & Disability InsuranceVacation, Sick, Personal Time and Company HolidaysMultiple Voluntary and Company provided BenefitsBuild YOUR future with D.R.
