Machinist Job Category: Aircraft Maint R & O Full-Time On-site Flightstar Jacksonville, FL 32221, USA Description Job Description FLSA: Non-Exempt Department: Backshop Job Title: Machinist Reports To: Lead Machinist DOT/ NON-DOT: DOT Position Summary Perform a basic to advanced level skilled work to accomplish sheet metal repairs and replacements of structural parts. Fabricate replacement covering, panels, or fairings by using the removed parts as samples. Reads and complies with instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work. Job Duties and Responsibilities Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job Select appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues Determine and program size of batches and speed of machine Monitor output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages Reads instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work. Performs other duties as assigned. Key Interactions Internal Immediate Manager/Supervisor and other Maintenance Leadership Department Leads Other department employees and contract employees External Businesses or Organization Corporate and OpCO employees Customers Vendors Position Profile - Required - Desired - Level Academic Qualifications - High School Diploma or GED required; Vocational school or apprenticeship preferred Languages - Read, speak, write, and understand the English language. Special Licenses - Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate is preferred; Airframe Familiarization (FAM) course certificates preferred Previous Experience - Minimum 18 months of relevant experience providing knowledge of narrow and wide body airframe techniques, terminology, parts, etc. Technical Skills - Individual will perform daily transactions within Flightstar's ERP system, vending (POU), as well as research customer's maintenance manuals. CNC machining experience VF2 3 axis machine. Required Skills - Lifts and carries hand tools, parts, and work materials; ascends and descends ladders and platforms; and frequently works in a variety of positions such as stooping, kneeling or squatting. Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to detail Great verbal and written communication skills Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.) Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals Knowledge of metal properties and other material Outstanding mathematical skills and analytical abilities Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
