CNC Machinist

CNC Machinist Expected hours: No less than 40 per week Essential Job Functions: Operate CNC lathes and milling machines including programming, setup, and running operations. Program complex parts for CNC multi-axis lathes & mills (Use of G-code and/or conversational programming on lathes & mills) Develop machine set-ups and program edits, ensuring programs are properly organized and preserved Understand geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) Read and interpret 2-D shop prints Select proper tooling for production and manufacturing Work with tolerances to +/-.001 Maintain highest levels of quality as specified by customer requirements Inspect parts using a variety of equipment: micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, other as needed Demonstrate forward thinking to anticipate and avoid problems, and effectively trouble-shoot and resolve any problems that do arise Work with minimal supervision, but also engage productively within a team environment Update job paperwork, keeping it accurate and organized Use electronic job tracking application to ensure job status information remains accurate and up-to-date Perform prescribed preventive maintenance on machines as required per M/M schedules Other duties may be assigned as necessary and appropriate Required Skills and Experience: Extensive knowledge of machining and strong machining skills Five (5) years experience turning and set-up on CNC Lathes/Mills Medium to high level of experience with tools and inserts Production experience with high performance alloys (e.g., copper/nickel, Inconel, stainless) Experience troubleshooting machining issues with various types of manual and CNC lathes & mills Experience in inspection of machined parts Trigonometry & blueprint literacy Production experience with high performance alloys (e.g., copper/nickel, Inconel, stainless) Experience troubleshooting machining issues with various types of manual and CNC lathes & mills Education Level: High School (or equivalent) with Technical School CNC Programming education/certification Physical Requirements: Standing - Routinely Sitting Occasionally Bending/Stooping/Pushing/Pulling Occasionally Lifting under or over 10 lbs. or more Routinely Carrying under or over 10 lbs. or more Occasionally Reading documents Routinely Required Materials: Steel toe safety footwear - company allowance Standard safety glasses w/side shields company provides Prescription safety glasses must be approved by OSHA standard and have side shields General Requirements and Expectations: Job Knowledge: Understands duties and responsibilities, has necessary job knowledge, has necessary technical skills, understands company mission/values, keeps job knowledge current, is in command of critical issues.
