We are seeking an experienced Manager to join our Investor Accounting team in Houston, TX. Reporting to the Director of Investor Accounting, this role combines hands-on technical execution with direct people management responsibilities, overseeing a team who supports our investor partners and cash management operations.About the RoleThe Investor Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day operations related to the collection, movement, remittance, reporting, and reconciliation of cash transactions for our diverse investor portfolio. You'll manage a team of professionals while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all investor accounting functions. This position requires both strong technical knowledge of mortgage servicing guidelines and the ability to develop talent while driving operational excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & DevelopmentDirectly manage and mentor team members of varying experience levels, providing guidance on complex technical issues and career developmentConduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to drive individual and team performancePartner with the Director to develop and implement comprehensive training programs for new hires and continuous education for existing staffBuild team capacity and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementTrain and manage staff responsible for bank account administration including opening and closing accounts as neededInvestor Relations & Operational ExcellenceOversee the generation and distribution of remittances and reporting packages for investors including Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, Ginnie Mae, CMBS, life companies, and other institutional partnersServe as a primary point of contact for investor inquiries and escalations, ensuring timely and accurate responsesReview and approve complex reconciliations and resolve escalated reporting issuesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, maintain, and enhance policies and procedures for all investor accounting functionsReview banking fees to identify any changes or trends and recommend areas where negotiation may result in reduced expensesCompliance & Risk ManagementActively supports Director during audits by reviewing documentation gathered by the team and drafting responses.Assists with responses to audit findings, determining mediation and following-up for compliance.Ensure adherence to SOX controls, company policies, and investor requirementsMonitor compliance with servicing guidelines and regulations for mortgage bankingIdentify and remediate control gaps or process weaknessesProcess Improvement & TechnologyIdentify opportunities for technology-driven solutions to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalabilityLead the implementation of process improvements and system enhancementsOversee testing of system functionality and validation of software upgrades and reportsDrive standardization and automation initiatives to create a scalable platformStrategic SupportDevelop and deliver management reports and analysis to support business decisionsSupport ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by the DirectorContribute to departmental planning and goal-settingQualificationsRequired6+ years of progressive experience in mortgage accounting or mortgage banking2+ years of people management or supervisory experienceStrong understanding of investor requirements for Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, Ginnie Mae/HUD/FHA, CMBS, and life companiesSolid working knowledge of CRE finance, servicing guidelines and regulationsFamiliarity with SOX compliance requirements and internal control frameworksHighly advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, complex formulas, data analysis)Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detailPreferredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or related fieldExperience implementing technology solutions or optimizing servicing platformsTrack record of successfully managing and developing high-performing teamsExperience serving as liaison during audits or regulatory examinationsWhat Sets You ApartStrong leadership presence with ability to motivate and develop diverse team membersProactive and solutions-oriented approach to challengesExcellent communication skills with ability to translate complex concepts for various audiencesAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentStrategic thinker with strong business acumen and ability to see the bigger pictureDemonstrated ability to drive change and implement process improvementsThis position does not provide visa sponsorship.
