Mechanical Maintenance

Job Summary

Performs skilled work in the installation, programming, troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration, and repair of building automation systems, HVAC controls, and related control devices. Supports the efficient operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and energy management systems by monitoring building automation systems, diagnosing system issues, and ensuring equipment operates in accordance with established performance standards. Works independently on complex controls assignments and assists the Controls Supervisor with system upgrades, commissioning, and optimization projects.

Responsibilities

• Install, program, calibrate, maintain, and repair building automation systems (BAS), HVAC controls, and related control devices, including controllers, sensors, actuators, valves, relays, and thermostats
• Monitor building automation systems to identify equipment issues, optimize system performance, and support the efficient operation of campus HVAC systems
• Troubleshoot and repair electronic, digital, and pneumatic control systems associated with air handling units, heat pumps, boilers, chillers, and other HVAC equipment
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, control schematics, specifications, and technical documentation to install, diagnose, and modify control systems
• Perform preventive maintenance, testing, and commissioning activities to ensure controls systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently
• Collaborate with HVAC, electrical, and maintenance personnel to resolve equipment issues, support energy conservation initiatives, maintain system documentation, and ensure a comfortable environment for students, faculty, and staff

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Experience

• Three (3) years of experience in HVAC controls, building automation systems, electrical controls, or a closely related field
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing low-voltage control systems
• Experience using computerized building automation systems

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications

• Technical school diploma, certificate, or coursework in HVAC, Electrical Technology, Industrial Controls, or a related field

Preferred Experience

• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience with Metasys building automation systems
• Experience programming or modifying building automation control sequences
• Experience commissioning HVAC control systems

Proposed Salary

$22.36 - $27.95 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
