The Public Advocate's Office's mandate is to obtain the lowest possible rates for utility services consistent with reliable and safe service levels and the state’s environmental goals. The Public Advocate's Office represents residential and small business ratepayer interests in Commission policy‑making proceedings and processes (e.g. workshops, rulemakings, investigations, utility applications, hearings, advice letters, committee and stakeholder meetings, and other forums). Department Website: Job Description and Duties Under the supervision of the Program and Project Supervisor of the Natural Gas Section, the incumbent is responsible for representing ratepayer interests on issues pertaining to the appropriate revenue requirement and rates associated with CPUC‑regulated gas and electric utilities in General Rate Cases, and other rate setting cases. These cases encompass all aspects of cost of service, such as determining the appropriate levels of various operating expenses and capital expenditures (rate base, or infrastructure investment) to be recovered through gas and electric rates. The incumbent will conduct research, review and analyze utilities advice letters, write reports, testify in CPUC proceedings, coordinate with project teams, and advise management on related matters. Maintain organized electronic and hard copy files and ensure appropriate treatment of confidential files. You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement.
