Position Overview The Department seeks a highly organized, customer‑focused Senior Human Resources Administrator to support a broad range of HR functions—talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, disability and leave administration, performance management, HR transactions, and compliance reporting. The role serves as the first point of contact for faculty, managers, and staff, guiding HR policies and ensuring compliance with university policies and employment regulations. The position is 90% operational and 10% consultative, with potential leadership of specific HR processes. Responsibilities Compensation and benefits: Process basic and complex compensation and benefits-related transactions, ensuring adherence to university policies and guidelines; assist managers with compensation and benefits questions. Disability and Leaves / Worker's Comp: Answer routine questions and explain applicable disability/leave and workers’ compensation procedures; generate related correspondence; coordinate with specialists when appropriate. HRIS/People Analytics: Support data entry and record retention; regularly report on HR metrics using the HCM system; create customized reports as requested. Performance Management: Assist in communicating the annual performance appraisal process; review and track appraisal forms; address inquiries related to the program and technology. Talent Acquisition: Support candidate experience—job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, rater feedback collection, candidate disposition; coordinate onboarding and exit processes. Transactions: Support high-volume HR transactions (hiring, personnel changes, reclassifications) using standard procedures and guidelines. Document Advice: Advise on documentation requirements, revising documentation to meet university and legal standards. File Maintenance: Maintain personnel and HR-related files. Team Lead (optional): Oversee day‑to‑day work of other staff—scheduling, assigning, prioritizing workloads; review for quality and timeliness; onboard new staff; provide performance review input. Policy Compliance: Ensure consistency with Stanford HR policies, procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal laws. Inclusive Culture: Participate in fostering an inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and empowered. Desired Qualifications HR and recruiting experience — a plus. Experience in higher education — a plus. Education & Experience (Required) Associate Degree and 2 years of relevant human resources experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Required) Strong accuracy and attention to detail; proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Smartsheets; ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with sound judgment, tact, and discretion; basic ELR experience preferred. Certifications & Licenses Preferred: aPHR or SHRM-CP / PHR. Physical Requirements Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk‑based computer tasks, and use a telephone. Occasionally write by hand, twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly or forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, sort/file paperwork. Stanford University provides pay ranges as good faith estimates of expected pay. The actual pay offered will depend on scope, qualifications, departmental budget, internal equity, location, and market pay for comparable jobs.
