Human Resources Specialist

The United States Capitol Police (USCP) safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment. In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Forthe CP-7 level you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experienceequivalent to at least the CP-06/GS-8 level which is in or directly related tothe line of work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this grade level is defined as: providing support to management officials in the areas of staffing and employment, including developing vacancy announcements through an automated system. For the CP-8 level you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CP-07/GS-9 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this grade level is defined as: in addition to the experience specified at the previous grade, experience handling routine staffing matters from start to completion (vacancy announcement through final job offer). For the CP-9 level you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CP-08/GS-10 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this grade level is defined as: in addition to the experience specified at the previous grades, experience staffing positions through special authorities (i.e., direct hire). For the CP-10 level you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CP-09/GS-11 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this grade level is defined as: in addition to the experience specified at the previous grades, experience developing and/or validating complex assessment tools and methods and developing staffing policy and/or standard operating procedures.
