About the Role

The Company is seeking an Associate Vice President of Conservation and Science to lead its integral department, which is dedicated to the treatment, research, and long-term preservation of a vast collection of art. The successful candidate will be responsible for the professional and operational leadership of the department, overseeing the care, treatment, and conservation research of the collection. This role involves making conservation recommendations for loans, exhibitions, and acquisitions, as well as setting standards for conservation and scientific research based on best practices. The AVP will also be a key partner to the museum's curatorial departments, contribute to the advancement of the field, and support the education of future conservation and museum professionals. Applicants must have a Master’s degree from a recognized conservation training program, museum studies program, or a related discipline, with a PhD preferred, and a minimum of 10-15 years' of post-graduate experience. The role requires a broad professional knowledge of conservation, conservation science, and collections care, as well as a successful track record in a management role within a cultural institution. Excellent communication skills, proficiency in various software platforms, and experience in project planning, delivery, and financial management are essential. The ideal candidate will also have a strong network in cultural heritage institutions and academia, and experience in fundraising and philanthropic stewardship.
