Operations Manager

Summary

The Operations Leader will oversee end-to-end claims and defense operations, ensuring work is executed efficiently, service levels are achieved, and quality standards are maintained. This role will partner closely with Claims, Legal, Technology, vendors, and external law firms to drive operational performance, implement process improvements, and support organizational growth. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership capabilities, analytical expertise, and a track record of managing complex workflows in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations across claims and defense support workflows, including intake, assignment, processing, vendor coordination, and case completion
• Monitor and manage operational performance metrics, including volume, throughput, cycle time, backlog, productivity, and quality
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on workflow optimization, automation, and operational efficiency
• Develop and implement processes that enhance service delivery and improve overall business performance
• Manage relationships with external vendors and law firms, ensuring adherence to service level agreements and performance expectations
• Utilize reporting and analytics tools to identify trends, provide actionable insights, and support data-driven decision making
• Partner with Claims, Legal, Technology, and vendor management teams to resolve operational challenges and improve cross-functional effectiveness
• Support workforce planning, onboarding, training, and employee development initiatives
• Establish and maintain operational controls, quality standards, and best practices
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to team members while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
• Participate in strategic initiatives and special projects that support organizational objectives and long-term growth

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 7+ years of progressive operations experience, including leadership responsibilities
• Proven experience managing high-volume workflows and driving operational performance
• Strong background in claims operations, insurance operations, legal operations, litigation support, insurance defense, or similar service-oriented environments
• Demonstrated success leading process improvement and workflow optimization initiatives
• Experience utilizing reporting, analytics, and performance metrics to drive business decisions
• Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to collaborate effectively across business functions and influence stakeholders at all levels
• Experience managing third-party vendors and service providers preferred
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills
• Proficiency with reporting tools and operational systems in a metrics-driven environment
