Inventory Control Manager

Ideal candidate lives in the Tampa Bay area. This position requires extensive travel to multiple Industries throughout the state of Florida. Transportation for business travel will be provided. 

Job Summary: The Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of inventory management, including procurement, storage, distribution, and tracking of goods and materials for the operations of PRI six Strategic Business Units (SBU), overseeing 26 industries located in 17 prisons or work camps throughout the state of Florida. This role requires a keen understanding of supply chain operations, data analysis, and effective communication to optimize inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and enhance operational efficiency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned. 

Inventory Control:

• Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels while minimizing carrying costs and stockouts.
• Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records, including quantities, locations, and item details as well as analyzing demand patterns.
• Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconciliations to ensure alignment between recorded and actual stock levels.
• Identify and address discrepancies, variances, and potential issues affecting inventory accuracy.

2. Procurement:

• Collaborate with procurement team to forecast demand, plan purchases, and ensure timely availability of materials and products.
• Evaluate supplier performance, negotiate terms, and establish relationships to secure favorable pricing and terms.
• Implement just-in-time inventory practices where applicable to reduce excess inventory.

3. Inventory Analysis:

• Utilize data analysis tools and techniques to assess inventory trends, demand patterns, and lead times.
• Generate reports and present key insights to stakeholders, helping inform decision-making and strategic planning.
• Identify slow-moving, obsolete, or surplus inventory and recommend appropriate actions.

4. Supply Chain Coordination:

• Coordinate with various departments, such as sales, purchasing, and finance, to ensure seamless inventory flow and meet customer demands.
• Optimize distribution processes to minimize lead times, improve order fulfillment, and reduce operational costs.

5. Process Improvement:

• Continuously evaluate and enhance inventory management processes to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
• Implement best practices in inventory control and recommend system enhancements or technology solutions.

6. Compliance and Documentation:

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company policies related to inventory management.
• Maintain accurate documentation of inventory transactions, audits, and related processes.

Requirements

Education & Experience: Master’s or Bachelor of Science degree in Supply Chain management, operations management, or a related field. Proven experience of five years in inventory management in a product manufacturing environment with focus on planning, procurement, and forecasting. Proficiency in inventory management software, ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics/D365 and data analysis tools. 

Communication Skills: Advanced verbal, written, and electronic communication skills most importantly, promote collaboration among the team and with others within the organization.

Technical & Analytical Skills: Advanced math skills.

Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a demonstrated ability to interpret data and trends.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills: Acquire FDC training to supervise Inmate Workers and have basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).

• Proficient in inventory management systems and software to track and manage inventory levels.
• Knowledge of supply chain best practices, demand forecasting, and procurement strategies. 
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Windows™ interface, Microsoft Office, and ERP systems. 
• Ability to develop or improve a product manufacturing and processes to meet customer requirements. 
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or office equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee continuously operates and manipulates desktop computers and printers, and the telephone.

Work Environment: The employee works remotely from a home office. While performing the duties of this role, the employee primarily works indoors and frequently uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and telephones. In addition to remote work, the employee frequently travels to various industry sites throughout the state to perform job-related duties.
