Overview

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this position provides dedicated HR support to our growing SimTech Manufacturing Solutions (SMS) division , serving as the primary day-to-day HR resource for SMS employees and managers and the key liaison between SMS and Corporate Human Resources.

The Sr. HR Generalist is a highly visible, hands-on partner who builds strong working relationships, maintains a regular HR presence at SMS worksites, and supports the evolving needs of a growing manufacturing operation. The role requires flexibility to respond to changing production schedules, staffing requirements, and business needs.

Responsibilities

 

HR Business & Employee Support

Serve as the primary HR point of contact for SMS, providing responsive day-to-day support on routine HR, benefits, payroll, policy, and employment-related questions.

 

Build strong relationships with SMS leadership and hiring managers to understand workforce requirements, staffing priorities, and operational needs.

 

Serve as the liaison between SMS and Corporate Human Resources, coordinating with the Director of Human Resources and HR team to address and appropriately elevate HR matters.

 

Maintain a regular HR presence at SMS worksites, including weekly site visits, to answer questions, communicate HR information, and build employee and manager relationships.

 

Recruiting & Staffing

Coordinate with the Sr. HR Recruiter and SMS hiring managers to support recruiting and staffing requirements, including position needs, skills, timelines, and anticipated workforce demand.

 

Coordinate candidate interviews, support the selection process, and prepare and extend employment offers in coordination with hiring managers and the HR team.

 

Support candidate sourcing and skilled-labor talent pipelines, including participation in recruiting events, career fairs, and workforce-development activities.

 

Onboarding & HR Administration

Coordinate pre-employment and onboarding for SMS new hires and conduct new hire onboarding/orientation sessions multiple times each week, as needed based on business demand.

 

Ensure new employees receive required employment, benefits, policy, timekeeping, and compliance information.

 

Complete new hire data entry and maintain accurate employee information, records, and documentation within the HRIS and other applicable systems.

 

Coordinate with HR, Payroll, Accounting, managers, and other departments to ensure employees are properly established and supported through onboarding.

 

Benefits Administration

Provide day-to-day benefits administration and employee support for the SMS workforce in coordination with the Corporate HR team.

 

Assist employees with enrollment, eligibility, qualifying events, plan information, and routine benefits questions while supporting accurate HRIS records and benefits communications.

 

Training & Compliance Support

Conduct stand-up meetings, Lunch & Learn sessions, orientations, and employee briefings on timekeeping, company policies, benefits, HR programs, and required compliance topics.

 

Partner with SMS management and Corporate HR to identify training needs and coordinate, deliver, and track required HR and compliance training.

 

Workforce Development & HR Support

Work with the Director of HR to develop relationships with area community colleges, technical schools, trade programs, workforce-development organizations, and community partners to build sustainable skilled-labor talent pipelines.

 

Represent SimTech at career fairs, workforce events, and school programs while identifying internship, apprenticeship, and other workforce-development opportunities.

 

Provide day-to-day oversight and work direction for an SMS HR support intern supporting recruiting, onboarding, employee support, HR administration, and workforce-development activities.

 

Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications & Education Requirements and Desired Skillsets  Required

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field with 10+ years of progressive HR experience.

 

Broad HR experience including recruiting, onboarding, benefits, HRIS administration, and employee support.

 

Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills with the ability to effectively support employees and managers.

 

Broad understanding of applicable employment laws, government contracting compliance regulations and market practices.

 

Preferred

HR experience supporting a manufacturing, skilled-trades, government contracting, or similar workforce.

 

Experience with higher-volume recruiting, onboarding, training, and skilled labor workforce development.

 

Progressive HR management experience.

 

SHRM-CP, PHR, or other recognized HR certification.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong employee service, communication, and relationship-building skills across all levels of an organization.

 

Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

 

Ability to balance hands-on HR support responsibilities while working collaboratively with the Corporate HR team.

 

U.S. Citizenship required.

 

 

Work Environment & Expectations

This is an in-person position based primarily at SimTech's Corporate Office with regular travel to SMS worksites. The SMS workforce currently operates a four-day, 10-hour work schedule (4/10) and is expected to expand to include a second shift as operations grow.

 

The Sr. HR Generalist must maintain schedule flexibility to support employees working these schedules, which may periodically require early-morning, or adjusted work hours for onboarding, training, employee meetings, site visits, and other HR activities. The position includes regular interaction with employees in manufacturing and production environments in addition to a traditional office environment.
