Commuter WelderWe are looking for a Commuter Welder to join our team. A Commuter Welder is a skilled welder who performs welding tasks autonomously, including the selection and use of appropriate techniques and equipment, and applies these technical skills with minimal supervision. They are responsible for performing MIG & TIG welding, layout, tacking, fabrication and building functions in the manufacture of various products in accordance with product specifications.This position is based out of Sauk Rapids but requires travel to other company plant sites in Winsted, MN depending on project demands. The ideal candidate is comfortable commuting, able to adapt to different work environments, and committed to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity.Successful completion of internal welding test is mandatory.Millerbernd Manufacturing Company is an AWS (American Welding Society) Sustaining Company Member.Job Title: Commuter WelderLocation: based in Sauk Rapids, MN but would flex to Winsted, MN due to business needsSalary Range: $27.00 – 32.00 per hour (non-exempt) (In compliance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.)Shift Schedule: 1st shift Monday – Friday 7am – 3pm in Sauk Rapids, Monday - Thursday 5am - 3pm in WinstedAs a Commuter Welder, you will:Perform the following GMAW welds – butt – V – single bevel and fillet welds on carbon steel & Stainless Steel with either.045 and/or.062 diameter wirePerform GTAW welds – butt – V – Single Bevel and fillet welds on carbon steel & stainless steelProduce welds that pass visual & Ultrasonic InspectionCan perform necessary repairs that pass adhere to MMC Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and CWI inspection requirementsRead and understand MMC WPS's – select appropriate wire and shielding gas and weld within WPS weld parametersProficient in print reading and understands weld symbols and welding gaugesCan perform welds using following wires – solid – flux core and metal core as needed.Perform carbon arc gouging and recognize when any and all defects have been removedLayout and tack to specificationsUse grinder or other appropriate tools to clean, smooth out, grind or finish parts as needed while adhering to safety standardsUse various machines to fabricate, build, and design productsMonitor the production board and internal paperwork to perform tasks in the designated sequenceAccurately label all parts for routing to next operationPerforms prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as requiredEnter job data in production tracking systemUse crane, hoist, forklift or other material handling equipment to transport materials and products into and out of the work area as requiredMust be AWS GMAW & GTAW-certifiedWelders employed with Millerbernd will have the opportunity to complete all weld certification requirements including AWS certification within 14 days of employment – up to 3 attemptsWelders employed with Millerbernd Circular Products, Sauk Rapids are required to obtain and maintain ASME certification requirementsEnsure use of safe work procedures and wear all required PPEPerform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirementsFollow company policies in relation to safety, cleanliness, attendance etc.Role Qualifications as a Commuter Welder:Preferred candidates will have 3 years' experience in metal fabrication/welding experienceProficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, and weld symbolsAbility to operate hoists, cranes, and other powered industrial vehicles as neededAbility to operate various power and hand toolsExperience in use of weld positioners, turners, fixtures and equipmentAbility to perform basic shop math functionsAbility to electronically record production informationAbility to read and understand required internal manufacturing paperworkAbility to work with others as part of a high-performance teamAbility to adapt to changing work prioritiesAble to work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or proceduresAccurately use tape measure and precision measuring instrumentsOperational knowledge of Electric Plasma and Acetylene TorchProficient in welding techniques on flat, vertical and rotating planesPhysical Demands (Production Roles):This position requires the individual to wear and work in company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE). This position requires that the individual can lift a minimum of 50lbs. And, if applicable, can maneuver large, cumbersome equipment with the use of an overhead crane and/or forklift. Must be able to work in, on, or around equipment and machinery.
