Project Scientist Series Pool Ad – Open Ranks in the Department of Neurosurgery Salary range: Positions may be full or part-time and may be with or without salary. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. The salary range for this position is $76,700‑$145,700, depending on qualifications and program requirements. Application Window: Open date: July 11, 2025 Final date: June 30, 2026 (Pacific Time) Appointees will be awarded the position of Assistant, Associate, or Full Rank Project Scientist based on credentials and the needs of the research program. Initial appointments are short‑term (typically one year); renewal is based on performance, programmatic need, and funding availability. Responsibilities Conduct independent research under the direction of the Principal Investigator. Supervise graduate and undergraduate student researchers. Prepare manuscripts for submission to peer‑reviewed scientific journals. Assist in the development and writing of grant proposals. Manage multiple research projects efficiently and effectively. Communicate research progress and results to coworkers and broader scientific communities worldwide. Design, perform, and analyze experiments with minimal supervision. Maintain laboratory equipment and implement data processing protocols. Train personnel in data analysis and contribute meaningfully to experimental design and execution. Qualifications Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant scientific field. Minimum five years of research experience in an academic setting or equivalent. Experience with small animal surgical procedures (mandatory if required for the specific research focus). Proficiency in specific laboratory procedures and data processing required by the study.
