Senior Home Loan Underwriter

Working remotely with occasional training onsite, the full-time Senior Home Loan Underwriter will analyze and render lending decisions on home loans while mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Key responsibilities Analyze borrower documentation and determine eligibility for home loans, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines Apply sound judgment to assess complex loan requests and recommend approvals or denials in line with risk-tolerance standards Provide mentorship and training to loan officers and other underwriters, contributing to team projects and initiatives Required qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, or related field preferred Minimum of five years of independent mortgage underwriting experience required; government underwriting experience preferred MBA Certified Residential Underwriter (CRU) and FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) designations preferred Proficient in loan origination software and AUS systems; knowledge of Encompass preferred Strong understanding of compliance requirements and established underwriting processes
