Research Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and develop commercial realtime video codecs for 2D/3D, multiview, 360-degree, and light-field video.
• Design and develop encoding and decoding frameworks and optimization algorithms for live streaming.
• Research and develop video encoding algorithms for heterogeneous platforms.
• Research and develop visual-quality-oriented video coding and processing algorithms.
• Prepare encoder and decoder interface documentation.
• Participate in the design and implementation of self-developed transmission protocols.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline.
• Strong computer science fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and software design, along with problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of state-of-the-art compression algorithms.
• Excellent programming, debugging, and optimization skills in one or more general-purpose programming languages, including C/C++.
• Experience developing image or video applications such as live streaming, video conferencing, or offline transcoding is preferred.
• Familiarity with neural-network-based image or video coding and processing is preferred.
• Familiarity with a video compression standard such as AVS, H.264, H.265, VVC, or AV1 and its reference software is preferred.
• Familiarity with NEON/SIMD and multithreading design is preferred.
• Experience in international standardization work, rich experience with video coding standards, and publications in relevant academic conferences or journals are preferred.
