The Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Technician installs, maintains, monitors, and repairs transportation technology infrastructure throughout North Texas. This role supports traffic management and roadway safety systems by troubleshooting equipment, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring reliable operation of field devices.

The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on technical work, is comfortable working outdoors and at heights, and has experience with low-voltage systems, communications equipment, cabling, or related technologies. This position participates in a rotating on-call schedule and may require overtime, weekends, holidays, and emergency response support.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and repair ITS equipment and infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and restore service through repairs and component replacements.
• Install, terminate, and test cabling, including Cat5, Cat6, coaxial, and communication cables.
• Perform preventative maintenance on ITS devices and systems.
• Install and support CCTV cameras, antennas, Wavetronix detection systems, connected vehicle equipment, and communications hardware.
• Utilize monitoring and diagnostic software to identify and resolve system issues remotely and onsite.
• Document maintenance activities and service requests in work management systems.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Safely operate bucket trucks up to 100 feet and transport equipment to work sites.
• Follow all safety procedures and roadway work zone requirements.

Minimum Qualification s

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical training or coursework in electronics, telecommunications, networking, transportation systems, or a related field.
• Up to one year of relevant technical or field service experience.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to obtain a Class B CDL within two years of hire.
• Ability to work safely at heights and lift up to 100 pounds.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ITS, CCTV, traffic management systems, telecommunications, networking, or low-voltage installations.
• Familiarity with fiber optic, Ethernet, and IP-based communications.
• VMS, Axis, or Bosch certifications.

Physical Requirements

• Work at heights up to 100 feet using bucket trucks and elevated platforms.
• Frequent standing, climbing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and roadway conditions.
• Participation in an on-call rotation and emergency response activities.
