Volunteers at Tierra Encantada play a supportive role in our classrooms, helping to create a warm, engaging, and safe environment for young children. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children, want to practice their Spanish, or are considering a career in early childhood education. Volunteers assist teachers and staff in daily classroom activities and support our mission of nurturing bilingual development from infancy.Primary ResponsibilitiesSupport teachers with classroom activities, such as storytelling, arts and crafts, music, and playtimeInteract positively with children to encourage Spanish language development through modeling and conversationAssist with setting up and cleaning activity areas and materialsHelp supervise children during indoor and outdoor playSupport transitions between activities, mealtimes, and rest periodsFollow all health, safety, and confidentiality guidelinesModel kindness, respect, and cultural appreciation in all interactionsPosition RequirementsMust be at least 16 years of age Interest in early childhood education or working with childrenSpanish proficiency preferred but not required-must be willing to support a Spanish immersion environmentAbility to follow instructions and work as part of a teamMust be able to complete and pass a background checkMust meet state/local childcare volunteer requirementsCommitmentMinimum of 2 hours per week preferred, with flexible schedulingCommitment to reliability and open communication with center staffWhat We Offer VolunteersExperience in a unique Spanish immersion early education settingOpportunities to develop skills in classroom support and child developmentLetters showing community service hours (upon request and completion of hours)Tierra Encantada is an equal opportunity employer.
